독일의 프랑크-발터 슈타인마이어 외무장관은 24일, 이란이 국제사회의 일괄 보상방안에 대해 협상 시작을 바란다면 분쟁을 빚고 있는 우라늄 농축 활동을 즉각 중단해야 할 것이라고 말했습니다.
슈타인마이어 장관은 이날 독일 수도 베를린에서 마누체르 모타키 이란 외무장관과 만나 유엔안전보장이사회 5개 상임이사국과 독일이 제시한 일괄보상안에 관해 논의했습니다.
이 일괄보상안은 이란이 우라늄 농축계획을 중단하기로 합의한다는 조건으로 제시됐습니다.
이란의 모타키 외무장관은 이란은 협상을 시작하기를 바라지만, 전제 조건이 없어야 할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
이란의 마흐무드 아마디네자드 대통령은 이란이 서방측 제안과 회담 복귀에 관해 8월 중순 이전엔 답변하지 않을 것이라고 말해왔습니다.

Germany's foreign minister says Iran must quickly freeze its disputed nuclear enrichment program if it wants to begin negotiating an international incentives package.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier met with his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki in Berlin today (Saturday) to discuss incentives offered by the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council and Germany. The package was offered on the condition that Iran will agree to suspend its uranium enrichment program.
The Iranian foreign minister said Tehran wants to begin negotiations, but without any preconditions.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said Iran will not respond to the offer and return to talks until mid-August.
The U.S. and its European allies believe Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran denies the allegation.
