서구인들과 이슬람 교도들은 서로 간의 관계가 나쁜 것으로 믿고 있으며 일반적으로 서로를 부정적인 시각에서 보고 있는 것으로 한 국제 여론 조사 결과는 시사하고 있습니다.
이 같은 결과는 미국의 여론 조사 기관인 퓨 리서치 센터가 미국과 영국, 프랑스, 이집트, 요르단, 터키를 포함해 13개국 만 4천 여명을 대상으로 실시한 여론 조사에서 나타났습니다.
퓨 리서치 센터의 앤드류 코허트 소장은 서구인들은 이슬람 교도들에 대해 오만하고 참을성이 없으며 폭력적인 것으로 간주하고 있는 반면에 이슬람 교도들은 서구인들에 대해 부도덕하고 이기적이며 탐욕스러운 것으로 느끼고 있다고 말했습니다.

An international survey indicates Muslims and Westerners believe relations between them are in bad shape, and that each generally views the other in a negative light.
The U.S.-based Pew Research Center polled more than 14-thousand people in 13 nations, including the United States, Britain, France, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey.
The center's president (Andrew Kohut) says Westerners consider Muslims to be fanatical, intolerant and violent, while Muslims feel Westerners are immoral, selfish and greedy.
He (Kohut) says one of the most surprising aspects of the public opinion survey is that a majority of Muslims (in Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan and Turkey and Britain) say they do not believe Arabs carried out the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks in the U.S.
The poll indicates that Muslims blame Western policies for their countries' economic woes, while Westerners lay the blame on government corruption, lack of education and Islamic fundamentalism.
