이란은 이라크 정치 지도자들의 대화 촉구에도 불구하고 이라크 문제와 관련해 미국과 직접 대화하지 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.
하미드 레자 아세피 이란 외무부 대변인은 18일 이같은 대화는 미국의 비이성적인 태도 때문에 가능하지 않다고 말했습니다. 아세피 대변인은 그러나 이란이 무엇을 미국의 부적절한 태도로 보는지에 대해서는 구체적으로 밝히지 않았습니다.
이란은 그동안 미국이 자신들의 핵 계획에 대해 불공정한 압력을 가하고 있다고 비판해 왔습니다.
한편 이라크의 시아파 지도자인 압델 아지즈 알-하킴씨는 앞서 17일 테헤란에서 발언하면서 미국과의 직접대화는 이란과 이라크 모두에 이익이 될 것이라고 말했습니다.

Iran says it will not hold direct talks with the United States on Iraq, despite calls by Iraqi political leaders for such a dialogue.
Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said today (Sunday) such talks are not possible because of what he called Washington's unreasonable attitude.
Asefi did not specify what Tehran considered inappropriate behavior. But Iran has accused the United States of putting unfair pressure on Tehran over its nuclear program.
Iraqi Shi'ite leader Abdel Aziz al-Hakim said Saturday in Tehran that direct talks with the United States could benefit both Tehran and Baghdad.
