이라크 경찰은 저항 세력이 30일 하루동안 일련의 폭탄 공격과 다른 공격으로 적어도 46명을 살해했다고 밝혔습니다. 바그다드의 한 시장에서 폭탄이 폭발해 적어도 22명이 사망했습니다. 그 직후에 바그다드의 한 제과점에서 폭탄이 터져 9명이 사망했습니다. 이밖에도 바그다드에서는 다른 공격들로 3명이 숨졌습니다.
또한 바그다드 남쪽 힐라에서 폭탄 폭발로 12명이 사망했습니다. 이같은 폭력 사태는 이라크 주둔 미군 사령관인 조지 케이시 장군이 바그다드 서쪽 안바르 지방에서 점증하는 저항 활동의 진압을 지원하기 위해 이라크에 미군 천 5백명을 추가 배치한 것과 때를 같이한 것입니다.
한편, 이라크 당국은 이라크 인 수 백명을 참수했다고 자백한 한 테러 용의자를 체포했다고 밝혔습니다.

Iraqi police say insurgents killed at least 46 people in a series of bombings and other attacks today (Tuesday).
In the deadliest attack, a bomb killed at least 22 people in a Baghdad market. A short time later, a bomb at a bakery in the capital killed nine. Three other people died in other attacks in Baghdad.
South of the city, a bomb killed 12 people in Hillah.
The latest violence came as the the U.S. commander in Iraq, General George Casey, deployed 15-hundred additional troops to Anbar province, west of Baghdad. Defense Department Spokesman Bryan Whitman says they will assist Iraqi forces in the area.
In other developments, Iraqi authorities say they arrested a terror suspect who confessed to beheading hundreds of Iraqis.
