서울 지방 법원은 한국의 재벌 기업 대우의 창업자 김우중씨의 경제 범죄 혐의에 대해 유죄를 인정하고 징역 10년형을 선고했습니다.
김우중 전 대우 회장은 사기 및 횡령, 회사공금의 불법 전용등의 혐의에 대해 유죄가 인정됐습니다. 법원은 또, 김우중씨에게 220억 달러, 한화로 약 21조원의 추징금과 벌금을 부과했습니다.
검찰측은 당초 김씨에게 15년의 징역형과 약 24조원의 추징금을 요구했었습니다. 올해 69세의 김씨는 1999년 대우가 막대한 부채를 안고 파산하면서 해외로 도피했다 지난해 귀국했습니다.

A court in Seoul has sentenced the founder of the South Korean conglomerate Daewoo to ten years in prison for a range of financial crimes.
Kim Woo-choong was convicted of fraudulent accounting, embezzlement and illegally diverting company funds out of the country.
The Seoul District Court also ordered the former Daewoo chairman to pay 22 billion dollars (more than 21 trillion won) in restitution for the crimes, and a criminal fine of 10 thousand dollars (10 milliion won).
Prosecutors had demanded a more severe sentence for Kim of 15 years in prison (and 24 billion dollars in compensation).
Kim, who is 69, returned to South Korea last year to face fraud charges after fleeing the country in 1999 as his Daewoo empire collapsed under massive debts (of 75 billion dollars). South Korea's government took control of the group, breaking it up into separate businesses and selling them off.
