이라크에서 무장 괴한들이 시리아와의 접경 지역에서 저항 분자들과 싸우고 있는 미군을 도왔던 한 저명한 부족 지도자를 살해했다고 이라크 당국자들이 전했습니다.
당국자들은 바그다드 만수르 지역에서의 이 공격으로 부족지도자 세이크 오사마 제단의 경호원 한명도 살해됐다고 말했습니다.
제단은 알-안바르 지역에서 미군을 도울 것으로 공개적으로 다짐해 왔으며 자신의 부족 단원들을 저항분자들과의 맞서 싸우고 있는 군 병력에 동참시켰습니다.
한편 바그다드에서는 28일 두 건의 도로변 폭탄 공격 사건이 발생해 3명이 숨지고 17명이 다쳤습니다.
이번 공격은 누리 알-말리키 이라크 총리가 내각의 핵심 요직인 내무 및 국방 장관 임명과 관련해 의회 의원들을 만나고 있던 중 발생했습니다.
현재 시아파와 수니 아랍계 정치인들은 누구를 두 요직에 임명할 지를 놓고 의견이 엇갈리고 있습니다.

Iraqi authorities say gunmen have killed a prominent tribal leader who helped U.S. forces fight insurgents along the Syrian border.
They say one of Sheikh Osama Jedaan's bodyguards was also killed during the attack in Baghdad's Mansour district. Jedaan had publicly pledged to help U.S. forces in al-Anbar province, where members of his tribe joined a force to fight insurgents.
In other violence in Baghdad, two roadside bombs killed three people and wounded 17 others.
The attacks came as Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki held closed door talks with lawmakers today (Sunday) in his latest effort to appoint Interior and Defense ministers. Shi'ite and Sunni Arab politicians have been unable to agree on candidates for the key security posts.
