North and South Korean generals have ended their second day of talks with no progress in a dispute over a maritime border.The two sides met today (Wednesday) in the border village of Panmunjom in the Demilitarized Zone.
North Korea wants to discuss its proposal to redraw a disputed border in the Yellow Sea. South Korea wants to address the issue in separate defense ministers' talks.
The North does not recognize the maritime border drawn by the United Nations at the end of the Korean War and wants the line drawn further south. The two countries' navies have clashed twice near the border in the past seven years, resulting in casualties on both sides.
The maritime border conflict also sank the last round of military talks in March.
