중국 북서부 샨시성의 석탄광에서 가스 폭발사고가 발생해 최소한 27명이 사망한 것으로 확인됐다고 중국 정부 관리들이 밝혔습니다.
사고가 발생한 29일 당시 샨시성 지창에 소재한 와야오바오 광산 안에서는 39명의 광부가 일하고 있었다고 중국 관영 <신화통신>이 보도했습니다. 이들 가운데 5명은 실종상태이며 7명은 가벼운 부상만 입은 채 탄광을 빠져나왔습니다.
중국의 탄광들에서는 화재와 폭발, 침수 및 붕괴로 인해 매년 수천여명의 광부가 사망하는 등 세계에서 가장 사고가 많이 일어나고 있습니다.

Chinese officials say at least 27 workers are confirmed dead after a gas explosion tore through a coal mine in China's northwest Shaanxi province.
China's official Xinhua news agency says 39 miners were working at the Wayaobao mine in Zichang county when the blast happened Saturday. Five workers remain missing. Seven miners escaped with minor injuries.
China's mines are the world's deadliest. Thousands of workers are killed each year in fires, explosions, floods and cave-ins, despite government efforts to improve safety.
