Pakistani authorities have released a senior aide to the country's disgraced nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan, who admitted to leaking the country's nuclear secrets to other countries.
Pakistan's military says Mohammed Farooq was released last week after spending more than two years in detention in a probe into the nuclear black-market scandal.
A military statement said Farooq, who was the director general at a uranium-enrichment laboratory established by Khan near the capital, Islamabad, was allowed to go home. He was the last man who remained in detention in connection with the scandal.
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf pardoned Khan two years ago after the scientist confessed to passing nuclear secrets to Libya, Iran and North Korea.
