그러나 프라찬다는 의회 의원들이 첫 회기 동안 총선 실시 계획을 발표하지 않을 경우 이들 고속도로는 다시 봉쇄될 것이라고 덧붙였습니다. 네팔의 야당 연맹은 국내 헌법을 개정할 의회를 선출하기 위한 총선을 원하고 있다고 말해 왔습니다.
그 같은 의회는 갸넨드라 국왕의 권력을 축소하고 왕정 폐지까지도 결정할 수 있을 것으로 널리 예상되고 있습니다.

Nepal's Maoist rebels have lifted a blockade on the capital, Kathmandu, after the country's opposition leader assured them elections would be held for a constitutional assembly.
Maoist rebel leader Prachanda (EDS: ONE NAME) says his fighters are suspending their blockades of highways around Kathmandu and other major towns until Parliament reconvenes on Friday. But he says the barricades will be reimposed if parliament members do not announce plans for elections during their first session.
Nepal's opposition alliance has also said it wants elections for an assembly that would make changes to the country's constitution. Such an assembly is widely expected to reduce the powers of King Gyanendra, and could even decide to abolish the monarchy.
The Maoist rebels had initially rejected the King's decision Monday to reinstate Parliament, calling it a conspiracy to allow him to retain power. But opposition parties welcomed the announcement, and called off a crippling general strike and protest movement.
