태국에서는 헌정 위기를 피하기 위한 보궐 선거가 실시되고 있습니다. 이번 선거는 야당의 선거 불참 때문에 지난 2일의 1차 선거에서 하원의원 선출에 실패한 40개 선거구에서 23일 실시됐습니다.
이번에 대부분의 보궐 선거가 실시된 회교도가 다수인 남부 지방에 대한 보안이 강화된 가운데, 남부 나라티와트 지방에서 발생한 공격으로 적어도 1명의 남자가 사망했습니다.
많은 유권자들은 지난 4월2일의 조기 총선거를 발표한 후 총리직에서 사임한 탁신 치나왓 총리 정부에 항의하기 위해 기권표를 던질 계획이라고 말했습니다.

Thais have voted in by-elections aimed at averting a constitutional crisis.
Voting took place today (Sunday) in 40 districts that failed to elect members of the lower house of parliament during the first round of elections April 2nd because of an opposition boycott.
Security was tight in the restive Muslim-majority south, where most of the districts are located. At least one man was killed early today in an attack in southern Narathiwat province.
Many voters said they planned to cast abstention votes to protest the government of Thaksin Shinawatra, who stepped aside as prime minister after calling snap elections on April 2nd.
