싱 총리는 인도가 미국 핵기술을 제공받을 수 있도록 하는 미국-인도간 핵협력 협정에 대한 독일의 지지 문제에 관해 논의합니다.
독일의 프랑크-발터 슈타인마이어 외무장관은 미국-인도간 핵협력 협정이 이란으로 하여금 자체 핵개발 계획을 포기하도록 설득하려는 국제사회의 노력에 도움이 되지 않는다고 비판했었습니다.
미국-인도간 핵협력 협정은 미 의회의 비준을 받아야함은 물론 독일 등 45개국으로 구성된 핵공급국그룹, 약칭 NSG로부터도 승인을 받아야 합니다.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in hopes of gaining Berlin's support for India's U.S.-backed nuclear deal.
Mr. Singh was welcomed in Hanover today (Sunday) with military honors.
During the visit, Mr. Singh and Ms. Merkel are expected to discuss a deal that India signed with Washington last month that will enable India to receive American nuclear technology.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has criticized the deal, saying it is not helpful and complicates international efforts to convince Iran to abandon its nuclear research.
The nuclear deal must be ratified by the U.S. Congress and the 45-member Nuclear Suppliers Group -- of which Germany is a key member.
