Media reports say embattled Republican Congressman Tom DeLay has told colleagues he will leave the U.S. House of Representatives and not seek re-election.
DeLay was the leader of the majority Republicans in the House. He lost his leadership position late last year when he was indicted for alleged election law violations.
DeLay has been dogged by corruption allegations in connection with lobbyist Jack Abramoff. DeLay's former chief-of-staff pleaded guilty to conspiracy and corruption charges last week, making him the second member of DeLay's staff to admit to involvement in the Abramoff scandal.
