금년 초에 열린 조류독감 대책지원 원조국 회의에서 모금된 약 20억 달러의 기금이 조류독감 퇴치활동에 이미 모두 사용됐다고 유엔이 밝혔습니다.
유엔의 데이비드 나바로 인플 루엔자 조정관은 4일, 베이징에서 기자회견을 갖고 지난 번1월의 조류독감 국제지원회의에서 10억 9천만 달러의 기금이 거둬졌으나 그 대부분이 인도네시아, 베트남, 캄보디아 그리고 중부와 동유럽 국가들에서 지출됐다고 말했습니다.
나바로 조정관은 한편, 새로이 조류독감 감염이 발생한 아프리카의 5개국에 대한 특별한 배려와 대책지원 자금이 필요하다고 강조했습니다.
한편, 인도네시아에서 지난 해에 여덟 살된 여자아이가 조류독감으로 사망했음을 세계보건기구가 확인했습니다.
세계보건기구의 전문가들에 의한 검사결과 인도네시아 소녀가 조류독감으로 사망한 것으로 확인됨으로써 인도네시아의 조류독감 감염 사망자수가 24명으로 늘어났습니다.
또한 서아프리카의 부리카나 파소 가축방역 당국 관계관들은 이 나라의 수도, 와가두구 교외지역 양계농가에서 조류독감 H5N1 바이러스 감염이 발견됐다고 말했습니다. 버마에서도 3월에 조류독감 감염 확산이 멈춘이래 40만 마리 이상의 가금류가 도살폐기 됐다고 국영 매체들이 보도했습니다.

A United Nations official says that nearly two billion dollars raised at a donor conference on bird flu earlier this year is already being spent on efforts to fight the disease.
The U.N. system coordinator for influenza, David Nabarro, told reporters in Beijing today (Tuesday) that much of the one-point-nine billion dollars raised at the January conference is already being spent in places like Indonesia,
Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as nations in central and eastern Europe.
Nabarro says money is being used on education and other prevention efforts aimed at halting the spread of the disease, which has killed at least 107 people worldwide since 2003.
He says Africa -- where the disease has now been detected in five nations -- is of special concern and needs more money to fight the disease.
Meanwhile, an Indonesian health ministry official says test results from the World Trade Organization have confirmed an eight-year-old girl who died last year had bird flu.
Confirmation of the cause of the girl's death brings the number of Indonesia's human bird flu fatalities to 24.
In West Africa, livestock officials in Burkina Faso say the H5N1 strain has been found among poultry on the outskirts of the capital, Ouagadougou.
Burkina Faso is the fifth African country to be hit by the deadly strain, after Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon and Egypt.
And in Burma, state-controlled media say that authorities have slaughtered more than 400-thousand birds since March to stop the spread of avian influenza.
Officials from the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization are in Burma to help control the spread of the disease.
