아프가니스탄 서부에서 탈레반 저항 분자로 보이는 자들이 경찰 검문소를 공격해 경찰관 5명이 살해하고 3명을 부상케했다고 병원 소식통들이 전했습니다.
이들 사상자들이 후송된 병원의 한 의사는, 이들 저항 분자들이 모터싸이클을 타고 2일 칸다하르시 외곽에 있는 경찰 검문소를 기습 공격했다고 말했습니다.
한편, 인접한 헬만드 성에서 하루밤을 보낼 장소를 찾고있는 여행객으로 가장한 탈레반 과격 분자가 4명의 경찰관과 저녁 식사를 같이한 뒤 이들을 살해했습니다.
현지 당국자들은, 이 과격 분자가 잠자리에 든 이들 경찰관에게 총격을 가했다고 말하고 있습니다. 헬만드 성에선 1일에도 탈레반 저항 분자들이 연합군에게 물자를 실어나르든 네대의 연료 탱크들에 불을 질렀습니다. 당국은 이들 운전사들은 무사했다고 전했습니다.
아프가니스탄에선 탈레반이 외국군 및 아프간 정부군에 대한 춘계 공세를 전개하겠다고 다짐한 이래 폭력 사태가 가열되고 있습니다.

Hospital sources in southern Afghanistan says suspected Taleban insurgents on motorcycles have attacked a police checkpoint, killing five officers and wounding three.
A doctor at the hospital where the victims were taken says the ambush occurred today (Sunday) on the outskirts of Kandahar city.
Meanwhile, in neighboring Helmand province, a Taleban militant, posing as a traveler looking for a place to spend the night, killed four policemen after eating dinner with them.
Local authorities say the assailant shot the officers after they had gone to sleep (late Friday).
In the same province Saturday, Taleban insurgents torched four fuel trucks delivering supplies to coalition forces. Local authorities say the drivers were not harmed.
Violence has escalated since the Taleban vowed to wage a spring offensive against foreign and Afghan government troops.
