아프가니스탄에서 기독교로 개종한 남자에 대한 재판의 담당 판사가 증거불충분과 법절차 오류 등을 이유로 사건을 검찰에 되돌려 보내고 수사를 보강하라고 지시했습니다.
기독교 개종자인 압두르 라흐만 피고가 재판에 따라 사형선고를 받을 수도 있었으나 담당 판사의 결정에 따라 석방될 수도 있을 것이라고 아프가니스탄 법원 관계관들이 말했습니다.
담당 판사는 이보다 앞서 라흐만 피고가 정신불안정 증세를 보인다는 이유로 사건이 재검토될 수도 있을 것이라고 말한 바 있습니다.
미국의 콘돌리사 라이스 국무장관은 라흐만 피고가 석방될른지도 모른다는 보도를 환영하고 사실대로라면 이는 대단히 바람직한 전진이라고 말했습니다.

An Afghan court has sent the case against an Afghan man charged with converting from Islam to Christianity back to prosecutors for more investigation, with a judge citing a lack of evidence and legal flaws.
Court officials say the case of Abdur Rahman, who was facing a possible death penalty, could be dismissed.
Earlier, the presiding judge said the case would have to be re-examined because Rahman appeared mentally unstable.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice welcomed the Afghan government's reported readiness to free Rahman and said it would be a very good step forward, if true.
