중국 서남부의 소도시, 가오키아오에 있는 천연 개스 매장지에서 개스가 누출돼 만명의 주민들이 대피하는 소동이 빚어졌다고 중국 언론이 보도했습니다.
신화 통신은, 개스가 누출되자 압력이 증가돼 폭발할 가능성을 피하기위해 관계자들이 누출 개스에 불을 붙였다고 보도하고, 이 사고로 인한 인명 피해는 전혀 없는 것으로 보고됐다고 전했습니다.
이곳에서는 지난 2003년 12월에도 개스가 새어나와 자욱한 독성 연기가 형성됐으며, 이로 인해 243명이 목숨을 잃었습니다.

China's state media say a leak at a natural gas well in a southwestern town has forced the evacuation of up to 10-thousand people.
Xinhua news agency says no injuries were reported in the town of Gaoqiao (in Kaixian County near Chongqing).
It says workers ignited the leaking gas to avoid the possibility of a pressure build-up and explosion.
In December 2003, a gas leak in the same town produced a toxic cloud that killed 243 people.
