한국 정부는 이슬람 카리모프 우즈베키스탄 대통령이 양국간 경제 협력 방안을 논의하기 위해 다음주 한국을 방문할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
김만수 청와대 대변인은 22일, 두나라 지도자는, 양국간 무역및 투자 협력 강화, 또, 에너지및 광산 자원 개발 방안등을 주로 논의할 것이라고 말했습니다. 김만수 대변인은, 한국 정부는, 석유및 가스전, 우라늄, 아연을 비롯한 다른 천연 자원에 관한 공동 개발문제를 제기할 것이라고 말했습니다.
카리모프 대통령은, 오는 3월 29일부터 30일 이틀간 한국에 머물 예정입니다. 한국과 우즈베키스탄은 지난 1992년 처음으로 국교를 수립했으며 노무현 한국 대통령은 지난해 5월 우즈베키스탄을 방문한 바 있습니다.

South Korean government officials say Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov will visit South Korea next week for talks focusing on economic cooperation. The spokesman for South Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun (Kim Man-Soo) said today (Wednesday) the two leaders will discuss ways to increase cooperation in trade, investment and the development of energy and mineral resources.
The spokesman said South Korea will raise the issue of jointly developing oil and gas fields, gold, uranium, zinc and other natural resources. He also said Mr. Roh will ask Mr. Karimov to extend more support and attention to the estimated 230-thousand ethnic Koreans living in Uzbekistan.
Mr. Karimov is to be in South Korea for two days - March 29th and 30th. The two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992. Mr. Roh made his first visit to Uzbekistan in May of last year.
