The World Health Organization says China has agreed to share virus samples from poultry infected with bird flu-- samples that could help in formulating vaccines.
Officials with the U.N. agency say a deal was reached after several requests for the samples.
In other developments, initial tests show the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus has spread to the Gaza Strip. More tests are being carried out, and Israeli and Palestinian officials are meeting on how to contain the disease.
In Afghanistan, officials have begun culling poultry in an effort to contain an outbreak of the disease.
