파키스탄 정부군은 간밤에도 준군사 군인들과 친 탈레반 무장분자들간 치열한 전투가 벌어져 반도 적어도 46명을 포함해 50여명이 살해됐던 아프가니스탄과의 접경 부근 산간 지역들에 대한 맹공격을 계속하고 있습니다.
군 대변인은 반 자치지역인 북와지리스탄 지역에서의 전투는 백여명의 친탈레반 무장분자들이 한 보안 초소 공격한 뒤 여러 정부 건물들을 장악했을 때인 지난 4일 시작됐다고 밝혔습니다.
이 대변인은 미란샤 및 미르 알리 마을들에서 총격전이 계속되는 동안 체츠냐인 및 타지기스탄인, 아프간 인들이 포함된 반도 46명과 정부군 병사 5명이 사망했다고 말했습니다. 이 대변인은 이들 무장분자들은 아프간으로부터 국경너머 공격해 와 5일 오후까지 산발적인 총격이 계속됐다고 덧붙였습니다.
이 같은 전투는 파키스탄 보안군 병력이 테러분자들을 양성하기 위해 사용됐던 아프간과의 접경부근 한 훈련소를 공격한 지 불과 몇일 만에 발생했습니다. 이 기습 공격으로 40여명의 외국 전투대원과 부족 민병대원들이 살해됐습니다.

The Pakistani army continued pounding mountains near the Afghan border overnight where fierce clashes between paramilitary troops and pro-Taleban militants killed more than 50 people, including at least 46 rebels.
An army spokesman (Major-General Shaukat Sultan) says fighting in the semi-autonomous North Waziristan region began Saturday when more than 100 militants attacked a security outpost and seized several government buildings.
The spokesman said 46 militants -- including Chechens, Tajiks and Afghans -- and five government troops were killed during exchanges of fire in the towns of Miranshah and Mir Ali. He said the militants were coming from Afghanistan and that sporadic firing continued until Sunday afternoon.
The fighting came just days after Pakistani security forces attacked a militants' camp near the Afghan border that was used to train terrorists. More than 40 foreign fighters and tribal militants were killed in that raid.
