Afghan authorities say suspected Taleban insurgents have attacked a police post in the southern Helmand province, killing three policemen. In a separate attack, a rocket landed near a top hotel in the capital, Kabul.
The authorities say an unknown number of militants were involved in the assault in Helmand late Saturday that sparked an hour-long exchange of fire. Security forces launched a manhunt for the attackers.
The Taleban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In an unrelated development Sunday, an armed gang killed a guard and stole 320-thousand dollars in cash in a roadside holdup of a car in Kabul.
