세르게이 라브로프 러시아 외무장관은 팔레스타인의 과격파 집단인 하마스가 궁극적으로는 중동평화 절차의 합법적인 한 부분이 되기를 바란다고 말했습니다.
라브로프 장관은 17일 다음주에 모스크바에서 열리는 하마스와의 회담은 이같은 결과를 가져오기 위한 것이라면서 하마스는 폭력을 포기하고 이스라엘을 인정해야 한다고 말했습니다.
한편 세르게이 이바노프 러시아 국방장관은 러시아는 이스라엘이 동의하는 경우에만 팔레스타인자치정부에 군사장비를 판매할 것이라고 말했습니다. 앞서 인테르팍스 통신은 팔레스타인 정부가 러시아로 부터 헬리콥터 2대와 장갑차 50대를 구입하려 한다고 보도했습니다.

Russia's foreign minister says he hopes the radical Palestinian group Hamas will eventually become a legitimate part of the Mideast peace process. Sergey Lavrov said today (Friday) next month's talks with Hamas in Moscow are aimed at bringing about such an outcome.
He added that Hamas must still renounce violence and recognize Israel. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov earlier said Moscow would supply military hardware to the Palestinian Authority only if Israel agreed. The Interfax news agency says the Palestinian government wants to buy two Russian helicopters and 50 armored personnel carriers.
The Russian statements come as acting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert considers tough restrictions on Palestinians and a freeze on ties with their government after a Hamas-led parliament is sworn in on Saturday. Under a package of measures expected to be approved today (Friday), Palestinians would be barred from working in Israel and from traveling between Gaza and the West Bank.
