세계 최대 자동자 제조업체 GM, 지난해 손실 48억 달러 (영문기사 첨부)

세계 최대 자동차 제조업체인 미국의 제네럴 모터스사는 이 회사의 지난 해 4-4 분기 손실이 48억 달러에 달했다고 밝혔습니다.

미국 증권시장 전문가들은 제네럴 모터스사의 이 같은 손실규모가 예상보다 훨씬 많은 것이라고 말하고 있습니다.

한편, 세계 7대 자동차 제조업체인 한국의 현대자동차사는 2005년 4/4분기 순익이 71퍼센트 늘어나 거의 6억 8천만 달러에 달했다고 발표했습니다.

The world's largest automaker reported a four-point-eight-billion-dollar loss for the last three months of 2005.

The losses General Motors reported on Thursday were much worse than investors had expected.

Costs of restructuring the company's faltering North American operations and the bill for benefit guarantees increased the loss.

GM has been losing market share to Asian automakers as high labor and materials costs and soaring gasoline prices hurt sales of SUV's and other large vehicles.

In the meantime, the world's seventh-largest car maker says its profits rose sharply in the last quarter of 2005. Hyundai says its quarterly profit rose 71 percent to a total of nearly 680-million dollars.
