중국 산둥성에서 소 마흔 네 마리가 가축전염병인 구제역에 걸린 것으로 확인돼 지방 가축방역 당국이 같은 사육장의 다른 소 등 아흔 한 마리를 도살, 폐기했습니다. 산둥성 정부당국은 구제역이 발생한 지역에서 긴급방역 조치를 실시하고 있습니다.
가축의 A급 전염병인 구제역은 소나 돼지, 염소 등 발굽이 둘로 갈라진 동물이 걸리는 바이러스에 의한 전염성 질병으로 도살처분외에는 다른 방역조치나 확실한 치료 방법이 없습니다.

China has reported an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease that has sickened at least 48 cattle in eastern Shandong province.
To stop the spread of the disease, the local veterinary bureau in a district of Jinan -- the provincial capital -- has slaughtered 91 cattle, including the infected animals.
The Shandong provincial government has also ordered the disinfecting and quarantine of the site, as well as the inoculation of all susceptible animals in the region.
The disease affects cows, sheep, goats and other cloven-hoofed animals, causing blisters on the mouth and feet. It is not usually fatal, but authorities cull animals to stop the spread of the disease because outbreaks often prompt governments to ban meat imports from the affected country.
