한편, 세계 자유무역 등 국제화에 반대하는 시위자 수 천명은 18일, 세계무역기구, W-T-O 각료회의 폐막과 함께 평화적인 시위를 끝마쳤습니다. 약 5천 명의 시위자들은 홍콩 시내에서 W-T-O 각료회의장 근처까지 가두시위를 벌이며 W-T-O의 무역규정이 세계 빈곤국가들에게 피해가 되고 있다고 항의했습니다.
시위자들은 하루전 W-T-O 각료회의장 인근에서 시위를 벌이다가 홍콩 경찰과 충돌을 일으켜 경찰관 서른 아홉 명을 포함해 약 1백 명이 부상했으며 다수의 한국 농민들을 포함해 약 9백 명이 체포됐습니다.
