북한 조국평화통일위원회의 한 대변인은 관영 조선중앙통신과의 회견에서 버시바우 대사의 발언은 전쟁선포라고 말했습니다. 버시바우 대사는 지난 7일 6자회담이 재개되려면 미국은 금융제재를 해제해야 한다는 북한의 요구를 거부하면서 북한을 범죄정권으로 지칭했습니다.
버시바우 대사는 금융제재는 북한의 불법활동이 끝나야 종료될 것이라면서, 북한이 위조지폐 제조와 마약거래에 관여하고 있다고 비난했습니다.

North Korea has lashed out at Washington's new ambassador to South Korea, Alexander Vershbow, for labeling North Korea's government as a "criminal regime." An unidentified spokesman (from the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland) told North Korea's official news agency the remark was a "declaration of war" against North Korea.
Ambassador Vershbow made the comment Wednesday in Seoul, where he rejected North Korea's demand that Washington drop financial sanctions as a condition for resuming six-party nuclear talks. The newly-appointed diplomat said the sanctions will end only when the North's illegal activities end, and accused the North of counterfeiting currency and trafficking narcotics.
