러시아의 공산주의자들은 구 소련의 건국을 가져온 레닌의 1917년 볼쉐비크 혁명 88주년을 기념했습니다. 7일 러시아 전역에서 거행된 기념식에는 수 많은 사람들이 참가했습니다.
구소련 시절, 11월 7일은 노동자들의 가장 성대한 축제일 가운데 하나로 정부주도의 대규모 무기 전시와 행진이 실시됐었습니다. 그러나 블라디미르 푸틴 대통령은 지난해 이날의 축제일을 철폐하고 명칭 또한 러시아가 1612년 11월 폴란드에 승리를 거둔 날을 근거로 “국가 단결의 날”로 바꾸었습니다.
7일 기념식은 러시아가, 1924년 이후 수도 모스크바의 붉은 광장의 거대한 묘에 안치돼 있는 방부처리된 레닌의 유해 처리를 논의하고 있는 가운데 실시됐습니다.

Communists in Russia are marking the 88th anniversary of Lenin's 1917 Bolshevik revolution that led to the founding of the Soviet Union. Hundreds of people turned up for commemorations in several cities across the country. During Soviet times, November seventh was a highly celebrated workers' holiday, with huge government-sponsored parades and displays of military hardware.
But President Vladimir Putin scrapped the holiday last year, renaming it "National Unity Day" and shifting the date to November fourth to mark Russia's victory over Poland in 1612.
Today's (Monday's) anniversary comes as post-Soviet Russia tries to decide what to do with Lenin's embalmed body, which has lain in state since 1924 in a large marble mausoleum in Moscow's Red Square. The tomb is considered a symbol of the old Soviet era.
