‘빛의 축제’로도 불리는 디왈리 축제의 절정인 1일 밤 뉴델리 전역에서는 불꽃놀이가 펼져졌습니다. 시전역에는 고도의 경계태세가 내려진 상탭니다.
만모한 싱 인도총리는 지난 달 29일 뉴델리에서 발생한 폭파사건들은 외국인과 연관이 있는 것이라고 말했습니다. 싱총리는 1일 페르베즈 무샤라프 파키스탄 대통령과의 전화 통화에서 인도를 겨냥한 테러에 대처해 줄 것을 촉구했습니다.
무샤라프 대통령은 ‘비열한 테러 공격’이라고 표현한 이번 폭파사건에서 파키스탄은 인도와 같은 편에 있다고 말했습니다.
힌도교인들이 디왈리 축제를 준비하는 가운데 발생한 이번 폭파사건으로 거의 60명이 사망하고 150여명이 중경상을 입었습니다.

In India, Hindus have been marking their Diwali festival this week in subdued spirits, following Saturday's deadly bomb attacks in New Delhi.
Fireworks exploded across New Delhi Tuesday evening to mark the high point of Diwali, also known as the festival of lights. Security in the city remains on high alert.
During a telephone conversation (Monday) with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said the bombings may be linked to foreign elements. He urged Mr. Musharraf to act against terrorism
directed at India.
Mr. Musharraf said Pakistan stands with India against what he called a "dastardly terrorist attack." The bombings killed almost 60 people and wounded more than 150 others.
Responsibility for the attacks has been claimed by the little-known Islamic Revolutionary Front. Indian officials say it has ties to a Kashmiri separatist group outlawed in Pakistan.
Pakistani officials say they have no evidence that Pakistani groups were involved in the attack.
