미국 중앙정보국 비밀 요원의 신원 누설과 관련해 백악관 고위 참모가 기소된 가운데 부쉬 대통령은 자신의 행정부는 앞으로도 계속 경제와 정치 문제를 중점적으로 다뤄나갈 것이라고 말했습니다.
부쉬 대통령은 이번 일과 관련해 딕 체니 부통령의 비서실장인 르위스 리비씨가 기소되고 사퇴한 데 대해 슬픈 마음이라면서 그러나 자신과 참모들은 미국인들을 보호해야 하는 책무가 있다고 말했습니다.
연방 대배심은 리비씨에 대해 허위 진술과 위증, 공무집행 방해 등 다섯가지 범죄혐의로 기소했습니다. 이 사건을 담당하고 있는 패트릭 핏제랄드 특별검사는 수사가 아직 끝나지 않았다고 말했습니다.

President Bush has vowed to keep his administration focused on his economic and political agenda, following the indictment of a senior White House aide in the probe into who leaked a covert CIA operative's identity.
Mr. Bush said Friday he was saddened by the indictment and subsequent resignation Friday of vice presidential aide Lewis Libby. But Mr. Bush stressed that he and his staff had a job to do, to protect the American people.
A federal grand jury indicted Mr. Libby on five criminal counts -- including making false statements, perjury and obstruction of justice -- in connection with his testimony about who revealed the name of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame.
The special prosecutor in the case, Patrick Fitzgerald, has said the investigation is not over.
Ms. Plame's role in the CIA was leaked to the media after her husband, diplomat Joseph Wilson, accused the Bush administration of manipulating intelligence to justify the Iraq war. Mr. Wilson says the White House exposed his wife's CIA work in order to punish him.
