세계 이슬람 경제포럼이 1일 말레이시아의 수도 콸라룸푸르에서 개막됐습니다.
개막식에서 샤우카트 아지즈 파키스탄 총리는 이슬람 국가 상당수가 석유 등 천연자원을 많이 보유하고 있음에도 불구하고 전세계 이슬람 교도들의 39%는 가난하게 살고 있다면서 이슬람의 부활을 위해 나설 것을 촉구했습니다.
아지즈 총리는 또 이슬람 교도들이 당면한 가장 큰 문제는 테러와의 연계 등 이슬람에 대한 부정적 인식이라고 말했습니다.
아지즈 총리는 이밖에 이슬람 국가들은 규제완화와 경제 자유화 및 민영화의 방향으로 구조를 바꿔 성장을 촉진해야 한다고 말했습니다.

The World Islamic Economic Forum opened in Kuala Lumpur today (Saturday), with Pakistan's Prime Minister urging Muslim countries to create an Islamic renaissance.
Shaukat Aziz told delegates that 39 percent of Muslims worldwide live in poverty even though many of their countries have massive natural resources such as oil reserves.
He also said that the biggest problem facing Muslims is the negative perceptions of Islam, including links made between the religion and terrorism.
Mr. Aziz outlined what he called a "road map" to make the most of the potential of Muslim nations.
He said countries economies had to be restructured through deregulation, liberalization and privatization to promote growth.
