이라크 아부 그라이브 형무소에 억류중인 1천여 명의 수감자들이 다음 주에 시작되는 회교 성월 라마단에 가족들과 함께 지낼 수 있도록 석방될 예정이라고 미군 당국이 말했습니다.
미군 당국은 이라크 정부의 요청에 따라 특별석방위원회가 연합군과 협력해 신속한 석방절차를 진행시키고 있다고 밝혔습니다. 이에 따라 수감자 1진 5백명이 26일중에 석방됩니다.
중범자가 아닌 수감자들은 폭력을 포기하고 선량한 시민이 될 것을 약속한뒤 석방된다고 미군 성명은 밝히고 있습니다.

The U.S. military says more than one-thousand detainees from prison are being released, allowing them to be with their loved ones to celebrate the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which begins next week.
A statement says the Iraqi government requested a special release board and is working with coalition forces to expedite the release of detainees. The first group of about 500 prisoners are being freed today (Monday).
The statement says the Iraqi-led special board carefully reviewed hundreds of files and voted to free those not guilty of serious crimes, had renounced violence and pledged to be good citizens of Iraq.
