중국 동북부 지역에서 세계대전 패전후 일본군이 버려뒀던 수 백개의 화학무기들이 회수됐다고 일본 관리들이 말했습니다.
일본 정부 당국은 20일, 일본 화학무기 발굴팀이 중국 헤일룽장성 이춘시에서 약 3백 개에 달하는 화학무기 폭탄들을 회수했다고 말했습니다.
일본군은 중국을 1937년부터 2차 세계대전이 끝난 1945년까지 일본이 점령하고 있을 때 중국에 배치했던 화학무기들을 버려두고 철수했습니다. 그 같은 전시 잔유물들은 종종 발견이 되고 있으며 이 문제는 중국과 일본 관계에 갈등을 야기하고 있습니다.
중국은 약 2천명이 일본군이 남겨놓은 무기들로 인해 목숨을 잃었다고 말하고 있습니다. 국제적인 협약에 따라 일본은 2007년까지 무기를 제거하도록 돼 있습니다.

Japanese officials say hundreds of chemical weapons abandoned by Japan's military after World War Two have been recovered in northeast China.
Authorities in Tokyo said today (Tuesday) a Japanese disposal team recovered almost 300 chemical bombs in Yichun city, in the province of Heilongjiang.
Japan occupied China from 1937 until the end of World War Two in 1945. Its army left behind hundreds of thousands of weapons and munitions when it retreated.
Such wartime leftovers are found with some regularity, and the matter continues to strain relations between the two countries. China says about two-thousand Chinese have "fallen victim" to abandoned Japanese weapons.
Under an international treaty, Tokyo is required to clean up the weapons by 2007.
