한국의 한덕수 재무장관은 아시아태평양경제협력체, 에이펙 재무장관 회의에 북한을 초청하자고 제의했습니다.
한 장관은 8일, 한국 제주도에서 개막된 에이펙 21개 회원국 재무장관 회의 개회사를 통해 북한이 핵무기 개발계획을 포기하도록 설득하기 위한 6자회담에서 중요한 진전이 이루어질 경우 북한을 특별참가국으로 초청하자고 말했습니다.
에이펙 21개 회원국 재무장관들은 이번 회의에서에이페 회원국간의 자본유통과 고령화 사회의 금융문제 등을 논의합니다.
오는 11월 18일과 19일에 부산에서 열리는 에이펙 정상회의에 앞서 열린 에이펙 재무장관 회의에서는 또 고유가와 미국의 허리케인 피해가 경제에 미치는 영향 등에 관해서도 논의됩니다.

Finance officials from the 21 members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum are meeting on South Korea's Jeju Island ahead of APEC's annual summit in November.
The stated themes for the two-day meeting beginning today (Thursday) are capital movements among APEC members and financial opportunities in aging societies.
Oil also is expected to be a major topic, with crude prices near record highs and the final impact of Hurricane Katrina unknown.
South Korea's keynote speaker, Finance Minister Han Duck-soo, opened the forum by suggesting that North Korea be invited to a meeting of APEC finance ministers as a special guest, if there was significant progress at talks to persuade Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear programs.
South Korea is scheduled to host the APEC summit November 18th and 19th in Busan.
