복음 전도사인 로버트슨 목사는 지난 주 한 텔레비전 방송에 출연해서 미국은 부시 행정부가 차베스 대통령을 암살하길 원하고 있다는 차베스측의 주장을 이행해야 한다고 말했습니다.
한편 미국의 민권 운동가, 제시 잭슨 목사는 28일 베네수엘라의 수도, 카라카스를 방문하는 동안에 로버트슨씨의 발언을 가리켜 부도덕한 것이라고 지적했습니다.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says his government may take legal action against a U.S. Christian broadcaster who called for Washington to kill the president.
Mr. Chavez says Caracas could seek to extradite Pat Robertson under international law, and may lodge a formal complaint in the United Nations if the U.S. government fails to take action against Mr. Robertson.
During an appearance on his television show (The 700 Club) last week, the evangelist said the United States should make good on Mr. Chavez's accusations that the Bush administration wanted to kill him.
Mr. Robertson later apologized. But the South American leader still wants some action taken, calling the remarks an act of terrorism.
During a visit to Caracas on Sunday, U.S. civil rights leader Jesse Jackson called Mr. Robertson's comments "immoral."
