허리케인 데니스가 육지로 방향을 돌리면서 강풍과 많은 양의 비가 쿠바를 강타하고 있습니다.
미국의 기상 관계자들은 등급 4 의 위력을 갖고 있는 허리케인 데니스가 8일 쿠바 남부에 상륙할 것이라고 예보하고 있습니다.
미국 국립 허리케인 센터는 데니스가 쿠바 중부 도시 카마구에이로부터 서쪽으로 2백킬로미터 지점에서 시간당 풍속 240 킬로미터의 속도로 돌진해오고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
현재 쿠바 일부지역과 미국 플로리다 남부 해안 지역에 허리케인 경보가 내려진 가운데 수 만명의 주민들이 대피하고 있습니다.
젭 부시 플로리다 주지사는 주 비상경계령을 내렸습니다.
허리케인 데니스는 이미 섬나라 아이티의 도로와 다리들을 덮쳐 적어도 5명의 목숨을 앗아갔습니다.

Heavy rains and high winds are battering Cuba as Hurricane Dennis makes its way toward land.
U.S. weather forecasters say the dangerous Category Four storm should make landfall in southern Cuba today (Friday).
The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Dennis, now about 200 kilometers west of the central Cuban city of Camaguey, is packing winds near 240 kilometers per hour.
Hurricane warnings are in effect for parts of Cuba and the lower Florida Keys. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated. Florida Governor Jeb Bush declared a state of emergency.
The storm has already swept away roads and bridges in Haiti, and is blamed for at least five deaths there.
Also, U.S. space agency officials say the hurricane will not delay next week's planned launch of the space shuttle from Florida -- the first launch since the February, 2003 shuttle disaster.
