전세계 난민들의 복지를 책임지는 유엔 난민 고등 판무관직에 안토니오 구테레스 전 포르투갈 수상이 15일, 공식 취임했습니다.
구테레스씨는 지난 2월에 성 추행 혐의가 불거진 가운데 사임한 루드 러버스 전 독일 수상의 뒤를 이어 유엔 난민 고등 판무관직을 맡게 됐습니다.
지난 1995년 부터 2001년까지 포루투갈 수상을 지낸 구테레스 신임 고등 판무관은 지난 달 코피 아난 유엔 사무총장에 의해 임명됐습니다.

Former Portuguese Prime Minister has officially taken over as head of the United Nations organization responsible for the welfare of the world's refugees.
Mr. Guterres took up his post as the new U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees today (Wednesday). He replaces former Dutch Prime Minister Ruud Lubbers, who resigned in February amid allegations of sexual harassment.
Mr. Guterres assumes supervision of UNHCR from former U.S. diplomat Wendy Chamberlin, who has run the organization since Mr. Lubbers resigned. She will remain at the Geneva-based agency as Mr. Guterres' deputy.
Mr. Guterres was nominated last month by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
He was Portugal's prime minister from 1995-2001.
