세계노동기구, ILO는 12일 제 4회 ‘세계 어린이 노동 반대의 날’ 을 맞아 최악의 위험한 형태의 일부 어린이 노동을 근절할 것을 촉구했습니다. 제네바에 본부를 둔 ILO는 전 세계에서 근 2억 5천 만명의 어린이들이 강제 노동에 동원되고 있다고 말했습니다.
ILO는, 14세 이하의 어린이 노동자 수가 가장 많은 곳은 아시아 태평양 지역이고, 이들의 비율이 가장 높은 곳은 사하라 사막 이남의 아프리카 지역이라고 지적했습니다.
ILO는 전 세계의 1억 8천만명의 어린이들이 마약 밀매나 무력 분쟁, 매춘 또는 탄광 등과 같은 일터에 강제 동원되고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
ILO는 올해 특히 아프리카와 아시아, 그리고 중남미 지역에서 보편화 되고 있는 소규모의 탄광이나 채석장 등지에서 일하는 어린이들의 노동에 초점을 맞추었습니다.

The International Labor Organization is marking the fourth World Day against child labor by calling for the elimination of what it says are some of the worst, most hazardous forms of child labor.
The Geneva-based organization says nearly 250 million children are forced to work. The largest number of working children under the age of 14 is in the Asia-Pacific region, but sub-Saharan Africa has the largest proportion of working children.
The organization says 180 million children are forced into work such as drug trafficking, armed conflict, prostitution and mining. This year, the labor organization has focused on children working in small-scale mining and rock quarrying, which is most prevalent in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
