세계 최대 자동차 메이커인 미국의 제네럴 모터스사는 앞으로 3년 동안에 적어도 2만5천 명의 종업원을 감원하고 일부 공장들을 폐쇄한다고 말했습니다.
제네럴 모터스사의 릭 와고너 대표이사는 7일, 주주들에게 제네럴 모터스의 비용절감 계획을 이같이 밝히고 이 계획이 완료되면 연간 2백50 억 달러가 절감될 것이라고 말했습니다.
와고너 대표이사는 금년 1-4분기중 제네널 모터스사의 수지적자가 13억 달러에 달한 것에 비추어 종업원 감원과 공장폐쇄가 불가피한 것으로 지적했습니다. 제네럴 모터스사의 수지적자는 종업원의 메디케커 비용과 자재비 상승, 시장 점유율 축소 탓인 것으로 분석되고 있습니다.
