정계 신인인 올해 35살의 하리리 후보는 이미 총리로 당선될 잠재력이 있는 것으로 널리 거론되고 있습니다. 한편 반 시리아계 야당은 분열돼 활기를 잃었으며, 당초 기대했던 대로 의회내 128개 의석 중 많은 수를 확보할 수 있을 지는 확실치 않습니다.

Lebanese voters will go to the polls Sunday for the first parliamentary elections in nearly 30 years without the presence of either Syrian or Israeli troops in the country. Voters in the capital, Beirut, will kick off the election, which will be held across Lebanon over four consecutive Sundays.
Saad Hariri, the son of slain former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, looks set to bring his candidate list to victory in Beirut, where nine of the 19 seats they are seeking have already been won uncontested. A political newcomer, the 35-year old is already being widely talked about as a potential prime minister.
Meanwhile, the anti-Syrian opposition has splintered and lost some of its steam, and it is not clear if they will capture as many of the 128-seats in parliament as they had originally expected.
