일본은 중국과의 관계가 극도로 악화된 뒤를 이어 두 나라 관계를 보다 월활하게 하도록 노력하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
호소다 히로유키 관방 장관은 우이 중국 국무원 부총리와 고이즈미 준이치로 일본 총리간에 23일로 예정됐던 회담을 중국이 취소한 데 대해 더 이상 거론하지 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.
호소다 장관은 상호 비방전과 대응을 계속하는 것은 관계 개선에 좋지 못하다고 말했습니다.
중국은 24일 논란많은 신사 참배에 관한 고이즈미 총리의 발언은 적절하지 않았으며 좋지 못한 회담 분위기를 조성했다고 말했습니다.
한편 싱가폴 총리는 일본과 중국은 민족주의적 감정을 누그러뜨리고 독일과 프랑스가 유럽에서 했던 것처럼 제 2차 세계 대전 역사와 관련해 화해해야 한다고 촉구했습니다.

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary says he will make no further comment on China's cancellation Monday of a meeting in Tokyo between Deputy Premier Wu Yi and Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.

Tuesday, China said comments by Mr. Koizumi about visiting a controversial war shrine were not appropriate and created a bad atmosphere for talks.
Singapore's prime minister (Lee Hsien Loong) urged Japan and China to moderate their nationalist sentiments and come to terms with the history of the Second World War, the way Germany and France have done in Europe.
