France, Germany and Britain have warned Iran it will answer to the U.N. Security Council if it resumes uranium enrichment activities that the United States fears could produce fuel for nuclear bombs.In a letter, foreign ministers from the three countries told Iran's top nuclear negotiator (Hassan Rohani) that they will break off talks with Tehran and then back a U.S. push to bring the matter to the Security Council for possible sanctions.
The Europeans have been holding months of negotiations with Tehran, trying to end disputes over the nature of Iran's nuclear program.
The United States accuses Iran of secretly developing nuclear weapons. Iran denies the charge.
