미 국무부는 정 박 대북고위관리가 8일부터 12일까지 유럽을 방문해 북한 위협을 논의한다고 밝혔습니다.
국무부는 5일 발표한 보도자료에서 박 고위관리가 “루마니아 부쿠레슈티, 폴란드 바르샤바, 스웨덴 스톡홀름을 방문해 북한의 불법 핵무기와 탄도미사일 프로그램, 악성 사이버 활동, 러시아와의 군사적, 정치적 협력 심화에 따른 위협을 논의할 예정”이라고 밝혔습니다.
[국무부] “U.S. Senior Official for the DPRK Dr. Jung Pak will travel to Bucharest, Romania; Warsaw, Poland; and Stockholm, Sweden April 8-12 to discuss the threats posed by the DPRK’s unlawful nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs, malicious cyber activity, and deepening military and political partnership with Russia. She will also discuss opportunities for promoting dialogue and diplomacy with the DPRK. Her travel is part of ongoing U.S. efforts to coordinate closely with allies and partners on the global security implications of the DPRK threat.”
이어 “북한과 대화와 외교를 촉진하기 위한 기회에 대해서도 논의할 것”이라며 “이번 방문은 북한 위협이 국제 안보에 미치는 영향에 대해 동맹, 파트너들과 긴밀히 공조하려는 미국의 지속적인 노력의 일환”이라고 밝혔습니다.
박 고위관리는 성 김 전 국무부 대북특별대표가 지난해 말 은퇴한 이후 미국의 북핵 수석대표 역할을 맡고 있습니다.
