조 바이든 미국 대통령과 나렌드라 모디 인도 총리가 22일 백악관에서 정상회담을 갖고 북한의 미사일 발사를 규탄하고 한반도 비핵화 약속을 재확인했습니다.
미국과 인도가 이날 정상회담 뒤 발표한 공동성명에 따르면 북한과 관련해 두 지도자는 불안정을 조성하는 북한의 탄도미사일 발사를 규탄했습니다.
[공동성명] “The leaders also condemned the destabilizing ballistic missile launches of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), which violate relevant UN Security Council resolutions and pose a grave threat to international peace and security. They reaffirmed their commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and urged DPRK to comply with its obligations under these resolutions and engage in substantive dialogue. They stressed the importance of addressing the concerns regarding DPRK’s proliferation linkages related to weapons of mass destruction, their means of delivery, and related items in the region and beyond.”
그러면서 “이는 관련 유엔 안보리 결의를 위반하고 국제 평화와 안보에 심각한 위협을 가한다”고 지적했습니다.
이어 두 지도자는 한반도의 완전한 비핵화에 대한 약속을 재확인하고, 북한이 안보리 결의에 따른 의무를 준수하며 실질적인 대화에 관여할 것을 촉구했습니다.
아울러 두 지도자는 역내와 그 너머에서 대량살상무기와 그 운반 수단 등과 연관이 있는 북한의 확산 연계망과 관련한 우려에 대한 대응의 중요성도 강조했습니다.
