미 인태사령부 "북한 탄도미사일 발사 인지...한·일 방위 공약 철통"

미국 인도태평양사령부는 12일 북한의 탄도미사일 발사를 규탄하며 한국과 일본에 대한 방위 공약을 재확인했습니다.

인도태평양사령부는 이날 발표한 성명에서 “우리는 탄도미사일 발사를 알고 있으며, 우리의 동맹, 파트너와 긴밀히 협의하고 있다”고 밝혔습니다.

[인도태평양사령부] “We are aware of the DPRK’s ballistic missile launch, and we are consulting closely with our Allies and partners. While we have assessed that this event does not pose an immediate threat to U.S. personnel or territory, or to our allies, the missile launch highlights the destabilizing impact of the DPRK’s unlawful WMD and ballistic missile programs. The U.S. commitments to the defense of the Republic of Korea and Japan remain ironclad.”

그러면서 “우리는 이번 일이 미국 개인이나 영토 또는 동맹국에 즉각적인 위협이 되지 않는다고 평가했지만, 이번 미사일 발사는 북한의 불법적인 대량살상무기(WMD)와 탄도미사일 프로그램이 일으키는 불안정성을 잘 보여준다”고 말했습니다.

이어 “한국과 일본에 대한 미국의 방위 공약은 여전히 철통같다”고 강조했습니다.
