Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari has called on Chinese companies to invest in his war-torn country.
Chinese state-run media report Mr. Zebari made the comments during talks with Chinese business leaders in Beijing.
Mr. Zebari, who arrived Thursday, is scheduled to meet with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing during his China trip.
Mr. Zebari's visit comes after the head of Iraq's oil ministry visited Beijing. China, which faces a significant energy shortfall, is looking to strengthen energy cooperation with Iraq and other oil-exporting nations.
China's foreign ministry says trade between Iraq and China has reached 400 million dollars this year.
