지난주 소말리아 해역에서 인도 해군이 격침시킨 선박은 알려진 바와 달리 해적선이 아닌 태국 어선인 것으로 밝혀졌습니다.
인도 해군은 지난18일 자국 해군 함정인 ‘INS 타바르’가 아덴만에서 해적선으로 의심되는 선박을 격추, 침몰시켰다고 밝혔었습니다.
그러나 피해 선박은 태국 국적의 ‘에카와트 네이브5’인 것으로 확인됐으며 조업 장비들을 오만으로 나르던 중 해적에게 나포된 것으로 알려졌습니다.
피해 선박의 선주는 당시 배에 타고 있던 캄보디아 출신 선원1명이 지나가던 어선에 의해 구조된 뒤 이같이 증언했다고 밝혔습니다.
당시 선박에 타고 있던 선원들은 대부분 실종상태입니다.

A ship sunk by India's navy last week may have been a Thai-owned fishing vessel taken over by pirates.
The Indian navy had said its warship, the INS Tabar, sank a suspected pirate ship on November 18th in the Gulf of Aden, after coming under fire from pirates.
However, the vessel is now thought to have been the Ekawat Nave5, which had been hijacked by pirates while on its way to Oman to deliver fishing equipment.
The owner of the fishing boat (Wicharn Sirichalekewat) says he learned about the incident from a Cambodian-born crew member who was rescued by a passing boat after drifting for several days.
Most of the crew from the fishing vessel is still missing.
