중국은 21일 타이완을 방문 한 관리가 타이완 독립을 요구하는 시위대들에게 가해당한 사실을 규탄했습니다.
현지 텔레비전 방송은 시위대가 타이완을 방문한 장밍큉 씨를 떠밀어 그가 땅에 넘어지면서 안경을 떨어뜨리는 장면을 보도했습니다.
시위대들은 장씨가 자동차로 돌아온 후에도 계속해서 공격을 가했습니다. 한 시위자는 장 씨의 차 지붕에 올라가 차를 짓밟았고, 다른 시위자들은 그에게 '나가라'는 구호를 외쳤습니다.
중국은 사건 발생 직후 성명을 발표하고 이번 사건의 가해자들을 철저히 처벌하고 장 씨의 안전을 보호할 것을 타이완 정부에 촉구했습니다.
중국과 타이완은 1949년 내전으로 분리됐지만, 중국은 타이완을 아직도 자국 영토의 일부라고 주장하고 있습니다.

China has condemned an attack on a
visiting Chinese official in Taiwan who was pushed to the ground today (Tuesday)
by pro-independence activists.
Footage of the attack on local television showed the official, Zhang Mingqing,
a former spokesman for China's top body on Taiwan affairs, falling to the
ground and losing his glasses.
After returning to his car, activists continued to mob his vehicle. One
activist leaped on the vehicle's roof and stomped on it as others shouted
"Get Out!"
Following the attack, China's main office on relations with Taiwan issued a
statement urging officials on the island to seriously punish those involved and
do more to provide for Zhang's safety.
Taiwan and China split at the end of a civil war in 1949, but Beijing claims
the self-ruled island as part of its own territory.
