이라크 집권 시아파 통합이라크연맹, UIA는 갑자기, 오는 2011년까지 미군이 이라크에 주둔하는 것을 허용할 미국과 이라크 간 합의 초안에 대한 변경을 촉구하고 나섰습니다.
이라크의 누리 알-말리키 총리의 다와 당도 포함된 UIA는 성명을 통해 현재 제안된 합의 안의 일부는 승인되기에 앞서 더 많은 논의와 수정을 필요로 하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
이 초안은 이라크 주둔 미군 병력의 철수 시한을 설정하는 것 외에 비번일 때 범죄를 자행한 이라크 주둔 미군 병사들을 소추하는데 있어 이라크 정부에게 제한된 권한을 부여하고 있습니다.
이라크의 호시아르 제바리 외무 장관은 앞서 18일 현 시점에서 이 초안에 관한 협상을 재개하는 것은 어려울 것이라고 말했습니다.

Iraq's ruling Shi'ite coalition
today (Sunday) unexpectedly called for changes in a draft document that
would allow U.S. troops to stay in Iraq until 2011.
The statement by the United Iraqi Alliance, which includes the Dawa party of
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, said parts of the proposed agreement need more
discussion and amendments before the deal can be approved.
In addition to setting a three-year deadline for U.S. troops to leave the
country, the document gives the Iraqi government limited authority to prosecute
U.S. soldiers who commit crimes off-duty and away from their posts.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said Saturday that it would be difficult
to reopen negotiations on the draft at this point.
Prime Minister Maliki met with British Defense Secretary John Hutton today (today)
to work on a similar agreement for British troops.
