중국 정부가 불량 분유사태의 원인이 된 화학물질 멜라민에 대한 기준치를 제시한 가운데, 1만 명이 넘는 중국 어린이들이 불량 분유를 먹고 병원에 입원 중인 것으로 드러났습니다.
중국에서는 지금까지 5만 명 이상의 어린이가 불량 분유 사태와 관련해 병세를 보였고 4명이 숨졌습니다.
중국 보건부는 아기 분유 1킬로그램 당 멜라민이 1밀리그램을 초과해서는 안 되며, 15% 이상의 우유를 함유한 식품은 2.5 밀리그램이 최대 허용치라고 밝혔습니다.

More than 10-thousand children in China remain hospitalized after drinking
tainted milk, as the government releases its first set of rules regarding the
chemical blamed for the scandal.
So far, more than 50-thousand children have been sickened and four have died
after consuming milk powder contaminated with the industrial chemical melamine.
China's health ministry says melamine will now be limited to one milligram per
kilogram for infant formula and two-point-five milligrams per kilogram for food
products containing more than 15 percent milk.
Melamine is primarily used in plastics, fertilizers and flame retardants.
Authorities suspect it was added to milk to make it appear richer in protein.
The scandal has led to the arrests of 27 people in China, and the recall or
prohibition of Chinese-made milk products by more than 50 nations.
