프랑스의 니콜라 사르코지 대통령은 유엔총회 연설을 통해, 국제사회가 금융활동을 규제하기 위한 국제기구를 신설해야 한다며 세계 정상들간의 긴급 정상회담을 열자고 제안했습니다.
브라질의 루이즈 이나시오 룰라 다 실바 대통령도 국제규제기구의 필요성을 강조하고 이번 금융위기는 "무방비적인 투기" 때문에 발생했다고 말했습니다.
필리핀의 글로리아 아로요 대통령은 금융위기가 "끔찍한 쓰나미" 처럼 여러 국가들을 휩쓸었다며 경제회복은 빨리 이뤄지지 않을 것이라고 경고했습니다.

World leaders meeting at the United Nations say the United
States cannot solve the global financial crisis alone.
In a speech to the U.N. General Assembly today (Tuesday), U.S. President
George Bush said Washington is acting decisively to solve the problem, but
other leaders say a global problem requires a global solution.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy is calling for an emergency summit of world
leaders and says the world should create global institutions to regulate
financial activity.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva echoed the need for some sort of
global regulatory body, and blamed the financial crisis on the "anarchy of
speculation."
Filipino President Gloria Arroyo says the financial crisis has moved from
country to country "like a terrible tsunami" and warns recovery will
not come quickly.
